Baby Jonah

I didn't take too many pictures of me pregnant...but here are a few.

Classic pregnant lady shot.

So exhausted I couldn't even make it to the door without resting.

I am surprised the computer could fit on my lap...
look at that HUGE belly!

Before photo...
Baby Jonah...

When we found out Baby Jonah was coming clear last September, we were sooo excited.  We did some calculations and figured the baby would come the end of May sometime. But May seemed FOREVER away!

I almost couldn't believe it, so I took the test twice.
We went to the Doctors is October for our first visit. My usual Doctor retired, so I had to find a new one. After asking around, we chose Dr. Bierer. We LOVE him. At the clinic he works at, they do ultra sounds every time. Which I loved. I  like being able to see him grow and know that everything was developing the way it should.

His first picture...he is just a small little peanut here!
Showing us his strong mussels...and he sure is strong!

It's a BOY!

This is one of my favorite ultra sounds of him.

This one is closer to the end,
you can tell he is running out of room in there!

He loves to have his hands up by his face!

Hopefully he is not this shy!
The first trimester wasn't that fun for me. On one hand I felt lucky because I didn't throw up everyday and when I did it was more evening sickness so I never had to take off school, but on the other I did throw up about every three days. And I was exhausted everyday. I would go teach and come home and sleep until 8:00 or so, get up make dinner and go to bed after I ate.

The second trimester was wonderful. I wasn't sick, still a little tired, but nothing like the first.

BUT the third trimester brought the awful heartburn, uncomfortableness, sciatic nerve problems, swollenness, and many other things. I didn't ever take off school because of sickness, but I did have to take a day because of the sciatic nerve. It hurt two different times, the second was the worst. I couldn't move. One of the days I came home from school, could barely make it in the house. Indi (the dog) wanted out, I went and laid on the couch and was stuck. I couldn't get back up. Indi was going crazy because she wanted back in. So lucky for me, my parents live less then a block away. I called my dad to come let Indi in. I also call my cute sister to come babysit me until Danny got off of work. That made me question if I could even handle the pain of labor...it made me nervous.

Luckily I had a doc appointment the next day. He tried to move Jonah around to get him off. Between that and a blessing Danny and my dad gave me he moved.

At my 38 week appointment, the doctor said that I was dilated to a 2 and 50% effaced. And decided that he would strip my membranes. It was a Thursday and he told us that he would probably see us at the hospital over the weekend because that would help start labor. All weekend long we were waiting and hoping. Both Danny and I had to teach that Sunday and hoped to get out of it and not have to plan one...but nope. Nothing. That was hard. We had another appointment the next Thursday and at that one he said he could start me over the weekend. I was swollen all over, but my ankles were HUGE! And that is something they kind of worry about because it could be a sign of preeclampsia.

They weren't sure if it would be Saturday or Sunday, but that I was supposed to call up there on Friday and they would tell me. When I called...they said it would be Sunday and they would call Saturday night with a time. Saturday night came and I hadn't heard anything, so again I called. The nurse I talked to said 8:00. We were excited to have a time!! So Sunday morning came around, we got up and ready and ate a good breakfast, because I heard once you get there they don't let you eat. We were half way there and I got a phone call the the Labor and Delivery was busy and they needed me to wait a couple of hours (there was an eclipse, which is why I think they were so busy). So we went home to wait. A couple of hours came and went...then at 3:00 we got a phone call to be there by 3:30!

This is what I did after we headed to the
hospital once and were waiting to go back!

On our way into the Labor and Delivery!

Me in my lovely gown.
What time we got there....digital.

What time we got there...analog.

More shots of me before I was hooked up to machines.

I look awful, oh well!
Once they got me hooked up to the IV, baby monitor, and heart rate monitor, Dr. Bierer came in and broke my waters. It didn't hurt, even though they use what looks like a crochet hook. In fact, it was kind of a crazy feeling. It felt like I was peeing, but couldn't stop. The water just kept coming and coming. I would laugh, but then it came faster. I swear, you could've filled up a bath tub. It made me glad my water didn't break at school. Anyway, as Dr. Bierer left, he told the nurse that we needed this baby born before 4:00 am, because he had to take his son, who is in the Navy, to the airport.
After that they started the pitocin and the waiting began. A couple of hours into it, I got an epidural. It helped for awhile, but I started to really feel the contractions so the anesthesiologist came in to give me a boost. That helped for awhile.

All ready for the fun!

This was the time they started the pitocin.
This was a time when we were there waiting....

Still waiting...

My monitor

This might be out of order with the rest of the pictures, but they were worried about the baby because if you look his heart rate (red) drops after the contraction (blue).  They had to put me on oxygen and reposition me. It was a little scary, but he bounced back with no problem.

Entertaining myself by playing on my
phone and checking Facebook.

Another time we were waiting...

Again...waiting.

Our support group...Grandpa Gordon, Grandma Carole,
Grandma Pat, and Grandpa Steve

Trying to rest...

Another time...

More time...

More contractions and baby doing better!

Time flies when you are having fun...

Way past my bed time...

The last time recorded...

Around 2:00 am I was ready to push. The nurse told us that it could take up to 3 hours...yikes. I did a few pushes but was having a pain in my side and felt nauseated. The nurse had me stop and gave me something for the nausea and call the anesthesiologist to come back and give me another booster. After all that was done, it was time to push again. This time I was good to go. I pushed for awhile and then they called the doctor....as soon as he got there Jonah was born soon after. He came at 3:50am...I was glad, then I didn't feel guilt about Dr. Bierer not making it to see his son off!!

Right after birth...I am already in love.

After he was cleaned up a bit.

That's the saddest face ever.

Cleaning him up.

8 lbs 8 oz and 20 inches long. 10 fingers and toes...perfect!!

The proud dad!

Buddies.

What a cutie!!

Just chillin'

Jonah's first bath...he cried the whole time. I cried the whole time..

Love him!

The hospital has a professional come and take some pictures, then charge a ton of money to order them. Jonah's turned out so darn cute we bought the CD of all of them. Here they are...

Jonah is such a good baby. We are glad he is part of our little family!
